Yes - We are with Virgin Broadband & had the same problem.
Contact Virgin, explain that, and they will send you out a wifi pod free of charge. They will only send you one at first, but we now have 2 as we still didnt really get wifi upstairs. They work really well. Hardest thing was sitting in a queue waiting for Virgin to respond

I got a Powerline 1000 from Virgin a few years ago that still does the job, I would imagine that there's more up to date equipment available now.
I also have Virgin broadband and use a Deco mesh system that works really well. I tried talking to Virgin before I bought it and was told they had no stock of extenders they could give me.
Thanks all. Virgin are sending a pod so we'll see how that goes. If no good then I'll give the Deco mesh option a try.
Thank you.
Another one for the deco mesh routers. Another great thing about the mesh set up is it will still let you split the signals from 5 to 2.4 as more and more providers are moving away from 2.4. nearly anything worth it's salt needs 2.4 to work e.g. Naim, Sonos etc.
Try lynksy WiFi booster
Still worth trying the free virgin pod first.
The virgin pods are also MESH. Worked a treat for us
Got Orbis here and they’re excellent. Wifi has been faultless ever since.
Put the Virgin "superhub" into it's passthrough cable-modem-only mode and by a decent wifi router. They are beyond pish.
I use a TP-Link that is plugged into a socket in my spare room and it works perfectly in extending the signal upstairs.

Update: Virgin sent a free booster (which looks like an upgrade on the older plug in a socket version) and it works very well. Sorted our dead WiFi zone.
Thanks all for your advice 👍
