I’ve been once. Not awful but certainly nothing exciting.

Cafe Andaluz again last night(George IV bridge)
Probably my favourite chain restaurant the fixed price menu is a bargain.
Back in Tom Kitchin for lunch today, been there previously for dinner in the evening and dd the tasting menu with paired wines and trumpets and whistles etc and it was truly excellent.
Today was more pared back, lunch from the set menu.
It's not cheap, certainly you can get a good three-course meal for half the price in Edinburgh, but it is ridiculously good value for money. All the dishes were at that level of sublime that tips them into Michelin-star class, which I guess is why he retains his star.
It doesn't hit the credit card lightly, but a trip to Kitchin is well worth the money IMO and the lunch menu is a steal for a special treat.
What’s the Chop House down Leith like?
Thinking of planning a meal for January time once all the Christmas stuff is out of the way and that’s been mentioned a few times.
I’m relation to the Chop House, has anyone had a starter or a pudding from it? Quite like to go for one or the other but I’ve only heard problem talk very well of the main!
Thanks
I was there a couple of months ago and had a dessert. The waiter recommended the orange sponge (something I didn't even know was a thing let alone having had it before) and I had it. It was absolutely magnificent.
That was the first time I'd been to the Chop House in spite of living in Leith for 14 years and it was our first night out since having a baby 8 months ago.
It was top notch and without being much of a foodie myself I would highly recommend it.
That’s me sold on the Chop House! Thanks
Been 3 times to Michael Neave Kitchen and Whisky Bar for lunch. Outstanding value. £9.99 for 2 courses of beautifully presented high quality food and coffee and brownie. £11.99 on Saturdays for 2 courses or £14.99 for 3, slightly more elaborate food. My favourite place in the city for lunch
Anyone been to Southside Scran yet?
For anyone heading through to Glasgow. Just had a very nice lunch in The Bothy just off Byers road.
Set menu was 3 courses for £16 and portions were very generous. Highly recommend it.
Scran and Scallie in Stockbridge was excellent this lunchtime. Scallops to start with bechamel, raisins and capers totally delicious, steak pie to follow was certainly something Easter Rd caterers could learn from. Set lunch menu at £17.95 is ridiculously good value.
I’ve nit but as it’s nearby me I quite fancy it. I’m not sure if ta still the case but as soon as it opened there were some reviews on Google about it and they were one star. If memory serves me correct they were really short reviews so I’m not sure if the people had actually gone to it?!
Went to Scott’s at Port Edgar, South Queensferry at the weekend. Beautiful place inside and great location
All had different dishes, but the ones who had Lenon sole and Fish and Chips enjoyed there’s the most.
Not cheap though
Lebanese restaurant in St Patrick’s Square “Beirut” has amazing food. BYOB too so lucky there’s a co-op just round the corner to get the vino from.
Went to Vittoria before the game on Wednesday. Pretty decent, nothing majorly fancy but very decent value for money especially with the 20% off food for being a season ticket holder.
Starters £5-7 mains £11-16.
Go for the mixed grill at£15. It’s fantastic!
I just read a very good review of the Little Chartroom, on Albert Place, in The Guardian.
Has anyone been?
