Sunshine on Leith.
Wonderwall
"Vienna" - Ultravox (held off by "Shuddap You Face" by Joe Dolce, much to Midge Ure's understandable chagrin).

Stevie Wonder, Yester-me Yester-you Yesterday. A classic stuck at number two, and if my memory is right the number one was "Two little boys" by some paedo
Last Christmas surely worth a shout here. Albeit the Wham juggernaut was halted at no2 because of Band Aid and they featured on that as well.
Now I've had time to think - the one the band that most deserved a top spot but never achieved it - The Who and their no 2 - I can see for miles.
Heartbreak Hotel ........................Elvis Presley (Kept off by Ronnie Hilton-No Other Love)
Blur Song 2
God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols only made number 2 in the official charts. Fix.
Wind of Change - The Scorpions. Great song, got to number 2 in the UK charts, one of the most significantly political songs of the early nineties, celebrating Glasnost, end of the Cold War, fall of the Berlin Wall and the hope for future peace in Europe. :aok:

Quite a few Bowie songs never made it to no. 1. Life on Mars, Suffragette City, Changes,...
And then there's Queen. Don't stop me now, for example.
Ultravox Vienna... kept at number two by Joe Dolce “shuddupa your face” incredible
The Hibs song !

GGTTH
Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks.
