Dear
All,
First of all ... sincere apologies for the time it’s taken to get
these notes out.
Second of all ,but more importantly , ..... a BIG THANKS to all who
came along to
Quinns Bar in Camden on the 5th September to our wee get
together. It was a great day out , graced
by a lot of well kent faces and a few new faces as well.
It was lovely to see everyone. If
you missed it then thats a shame , but there’ll be other times.
A big thanks to Vincent and Dominic at
Quinns for looking after us so well on the day.
On the day there were a few issues discussed as follows;
MEETING DATES
It seemed the general consensus that a meeting every second month is
adequate and, if that can coincide with a Hibs game or other event,
all the better.
The next meeting will be at
Quinns on 7th November for the Hibs v Hearts game.
Quinns will show it on one of the TVs for us and there will be
an area for us to hold the meeting whether it be before/after or
during the game!
I know there are people who will still turn up on the second Tuesday
of the month at
Quinns for a blether and that's great
...long may it continue.
WEBSITE
This is totally down to me not getting it done via Mike Inglis.
I will endeavour to have the site updated by the end of the
month. (Note from Mike I - this page updated 8th
Oct!)
MEMBERSHIP CARDS / HIBS
CLUB
I will be supplying Andrew Murray with a list of all paid up members
this week. Andrew has kindly volunteered to make the membership
cards and I’ll be sending them out to all members whose address
details were supplied at the meeting in September.
Tony Connor was at last weeks game at Easter Rd and says that a
solution to the problem of gaining entry to the Hibs Club is being
worked on now and that it should be resolved soon.
LHSC FOOTBALL TEAM
The LHSC football team and the supporters club have drifted apart a
little over the last year but having spoken with Ollie Scott, the
main contact for LHSCFC, we’re looking to reforge the links.
The football team have a good website providing fixtures list and
results http://londonhibsgoalrun.com (Mike I here
- the address doesn't work at the moment) and I’ve said to
Ollie that it would be good to go along to some of the games to
provide a bit of support.
If anyone fancies it let me know and we’ll try to organise this.
SOCIAL EVENTS
*The Golf Day is set for the last Saturday in June next year so a
while away yet. Alex Lindsay will provide plenty notice to those
interested in participating in this great day out.
*The preferred venue for the Burns night, The
Penderels Oak in Holborn , is free for booking on both the dates
we suggested at the meeting (Jan 23rd and Jan 30th). We want to book
it before the end of this month. Can I ask for a response as to
which date is best for you all? We will aim to keep the cost the
same as, or as close as possible, to the
£15 per head as per usual.
Upon receipt of the information we’ll decide on the date. Please
respond as soon as you can.
*The Thames boat trip is down for a Saturday in late May – mid June.
Depending on the numbers the cost will be between £16 - £20 per head
for a 4 hour round trip. The boat leaves Westminster Pier at 7pm and
goes up to Fulham then all the way down to Canary Wharf before
arriving back at Westminster Pier at 11pm.
There are 2 levels on board each with a bar and music supplied by a
DJ.
We have to put down a substantial deposit when booking this and then
settle the balance a few weeks in advance of the trip so anyone
wanting to go on this night out needs to advise me well in advance
and also be sure they will attend. I’m sure you appreciate this.
*POTY is still under consideration but depends solely on interest
shown by members . Do we really want to do one this season ?
SEASON TICKETS
The season tickets are available for Easter Rd as always on a first
come, first served basis.
I understand that they have been used for every home game so far
this season which is good news.
APFSCIL
The next APFSCIL meeting is on the 2nd November and Tony Connor and
myself intend to go along as Rose may not be fully match fit by
then. If anyone wants to attend let me know and I’ll pass on venue
and time details.
The meetings are at 7.30 pm in the Exmouth Arms , Starcross St (very
close to Euston Station).
Thats it for now.
Can I ask you to contact me on a different email address than before
as my Yahoo account is completely spannered and is very unreliable.
Contact me on
mike.prior@londonhibs.net
Thanks and all the very best.
Hope to see you on the 7th Nov at
Quinns.
