With all the news from the unions last week about strikes being likely over the coming months I got to thinking, now I have never backed strikes in the past as I see them as being counter productive in most cases, I also just haven't agreed with the cause most of the time.

I am planning to do this before my 40th birthday so still plenty of time to come to my senses. I was just wondering if anybody has ever done this and if so can give me info on possible routes etc. I want to end up in Dunfermline at one point but many routes I have seen take you down the west coast....

Hi, Looking for some advice about buying a house before i properly start looking and seeking out mortgages again.
I am looking to buy a house with my wife, I am not a first time buyer, but she will be, does this mean we are treated as first time buyers or not if one of us is and one isnt?
See these Tories, they are as subtle as a rugby team from the borders standing outside an Amsterdam brothel. The red faced, ham fisted sons of the shires are turning their hand to welfare.
There was some government woman on the news last night talking up the role that faith groups have to play...
What's this woman all about?
I think she had a valid point about why was Social Work the only one singled out. Health and police always seem to slope off in these situations. However, given the way she has behaved, she made them an easy target.
We live in flats that are by maintained by factors

As the original thread seems to have been deleted, I make only limited apologies in raising this particular bugbear of mine again. This link to a woman explaining how Hahnemannian Homeopathy works is excrutiatingly barking. If your brain doesnt revolt by spontaneously combusting or shutting down...
I was told of a person residing in England who was convicted of drink-driving (£500 fine and 15 months disqualification) but there seems to me to be some inconsistencies.

Admitted to being over the limit and drove...

It's incredible to think that it was nine years ago. Although the years keep going by, it seems like only yesterday that I was watching that horrifying footage unfold on TV. I remember coming home from school (I was...
I heard a news report today regarding the Catholic Church in Australia banning certain kinds of music from funeral services and I must admit I found the decision quite baffling to say the least! What's the consensus folks?

I was watching a show last week and a guy mentioned the time the Blue Peter garden got trashed as a seminal moment in his young life. It was something that left him feeling vulnerable, and aware of malign forces outside his home environment.
I think I'd be in my 20s at the time and thought it...

If any of you Holy Ground stalwarts can drag yourself away from putting the world to rights for a few minutes you can still enter THIS.
Anyone worried by this?
My understanding is that in the next tax year they will take amounts directly from your pay to retrieve up to £2,000 by the end of the following tax year. Any larger amounts will have separate payment agreements.
What I'm not...
I went to photography classes when I was a lad and what I learned has, obviously, stayed with me.
That was in the days of a real film in your camera getting a good/decent photo in as few shots as possible for most folk was more important then as it could cost about 50p a photo as opposed to...

So, you own a Japanese fighting dog, it has a name like (Freddy?) Kruger, and it maims a little girl. You then have the cheek to ask for mercy when it comes to sparing the dog's life?
How this thug thought he would get away with this is beyond me. :bitchy:
This was talked about at length a few months ago. My mother in law forwarded me a link:
From the link, "The change would affect supermarket-branded alcohol more than established brands. It would mean a crate of 4.5 abv lager containing 24 bottles of 330ml would cost at least 16.20 pounds."

Absolutely brilliant and, IMO, the best TV show this year so far. A great insight into the lives of these animals and the dedicated workers trying desperately to save the species from extinction(there are only 700 left in the wild).
Following on from a conversation started on the PM board, has anyone else wondered why cyclists don't have to pass a proper test whilst every other vehicle user on the road does?
Danish reporter Steffen Jensen visited Gaza day before yesterday to see how bad things are, given that the entire world is in an uproar over the humanitarian crisis there.
