  2. Chris Cornell dead (Soundgarden/Audioslave)

Died suddenly aged 52. In the middle of a tour and about to perform in Detroit so it doesn't look like there were any pressing health issues. Shame, as he had some voice and I used to like a bit of that music back in the day. That's no age.

  3. Get rid of politicians - a new parliament

Now I've got your attention I have come across this interesting article that proposes a random selection of ordinary people becomes the parliament. Imagine if we chose a bunch of randomly selected people, put them in parliament, and asked them to make the laws for the next couple of years....

  5. compulsary Voting

Should voting be compulsory? I personally think it should be but then again I regard myself as a socialist, the left being the side that would would gain from this. IMO it would provide more legitimacy and eradicate demographic deficit.

Did anyone else watch this doc on channel 4? Feel it deserves a thread. I thought it was brilliant, very well done, very thought provoking and quite moving and harrowing at times. Not an easy subject to look at (fairly) dispassionately, thought Tom Holland did a great job. His pointed...
