Forgive me if I have picked this up wrong. The taxpayer is going to be faced with a £60M bill to bring passengers home. Surely they should be obliged to have some sort of insurance for this kind of situation.
Does anyone know in situations like this where would the govt stand in the list of...
During a fringe event at the Conservative Party conference, Boris Johnson said Libyan city Sirte could be the new Dubai, adding, "all they have to do is clear the dead bodies away".
At a separate event, Iain Duncan Smith came out with this crap:...
Boxing with no punching?
Horse racing with no jockeys?
Formula 1 with a 20mph limit?
High jump with a max of 3ft bar
Cricket played with a tennis ball?
Football wearing slippers?
Reports of mass shootings in Vegas by another loser/losers.
Never going to end is it?
Very sad RIP
Thank God for the EU. We've clearly been in a world for some time now where gigantic corporations are running circles round national governments on tax. They can do sweetheart deals with an Ireland or a Luxembourg that they cannot get away with when the EU decides to take a collective interest.
There's a post from these erses doing the rounds on social media with a picture of an alleged hibby singing a derogatory song about Lee Rigby. It's only a photo with the guy's name and claiming he's a hibby so there's no way of knowing if it's genuine or not.
Anyone on here know if this is real...
To me this article in WoS about Nick Robinson seems to have missed the point.
IIRC, what was offensive was the BBC's editing of the Q/A time in that Salmond's answer on the telly report was not his response to the question originally asked. IMO it was deliberate...
I was reading an article on the BBC today about a report prepared by the Royal College of Nursing following canvassing of front line staff that highlights several issues with the service the NHS is providing.
There were several issues raised including elderly patients dying alone, medication...
Company has gone bust, leaving 110k people stranded. Other airlines have put up prices for alternative flights. Apparently Monarch we’re still taking bookings over the weekend.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has criticised the way the BBC handled sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile.
The Most Rev Justin Welby said the BBC had not shown the same integrity over accusations of child abuse that the Catholic and Anglican churches had.
I guess they'll have 400,000 pee-ed off ex-passengers.
Wow - glad it wasn't me that did their pilots' holiday chart.
I think this may be my favourite ever news headline on the BBC news front page.
No, you're mad.
No I'm not, you're mad.
The total state of the pair of them.
Lots of folk equate the German CDU to the UK's Tory party. Whilst they are right of centre they're nowhere near as despicable as May and co. Whilst I could never support the CDU I really do hope she gets re-elected, simply because I think her humanitarian decisiveness at the height of the refugee...
Think the Catalans have it tough? These guys have been repeatedly fobbed off since the end of the Ottoman empire.
Of course, they have been allowed to live as an oppressed minority in the super stable "nations" between whom their home is carved up. So that's alright then ...
Good to see action being taken for this sort of behaviour.
Fun or food? :dunno:
At the risk of sounding like one of those web cabbies with a daily moan, here goes......
I can see their point .... however, to uphold my position as "King of the Cynics" :greengrin, it comes over to me as "Boo hoo, we don't like these little plasticy...
Someone was asking about splitin the vote by age. I can't find the thread but here's a report with the breakdown.
Had never heard of this before, the plans looks mental and amazingly were given the green light in the 60's!!
Cannae quite tell if this is a serious Party Political Broadcast, or a terrible attempt at humour, maybe both I suppose.
David Martin MEP
I'd have thought incredibly unlikey but then again Hibs have sided with the Huns. :boo hoo: Apparently welcomed by SNP MEP Alyn Smith and former Labour minister Malcolm Chisholm.
... I look forward to hear how you are treated by these angels when they come to tend you in your sickbed.
I'm sure they won't begrudge you an extra five or ten minutes of their time to bring you a bed pan or change your dressings after an op.
Never mind, you can always go Private and pay for it...
Reports of an explosion on a tube train at Parsons Green in London.
Posted missing again today but thankfully found safe in Liverpool.
Someone was asking me today who the guy was on the column in St Andrews Square. I have to admit I didn't know who it was, I later googled it and found out who he was.
I must say I'm quite surprised that such a controversial figure has such a prominent place in our city.
After reading up on him, I...
20years on and the media are covering the anniversary of her death extensively.
My experience of the events at the time was that the mood in the media wasn't reflected in the people. There was an interesting documentary at the time which vox popped the people turning up for the funeral who were...
This isn't a comment on Trump's situation, just an interesting diversion as I'd never realised the extent of the Secret Service's job, although it's obvious now.
Secret Service director says agency running out of money protecting Trump
Blame society at it again. "Look where you're going" course urgently required.
Has anyone had a first date that ended as, er, differently as this one?
I was reading something about Katie Hopkins and I fleetingly thought that I'd like to shoot her. Understandable, I'm sure (most of) you agree.
In the early 80's, it was quite common for young dafties like me to get together in pubs and talk in sombre tones about sending someone to London to kill...
According to this person anyway.
Way to go, fight racism with racism.😧
Really!! She and her goverment HAVE to go!!
Even their own donors are contemplating a better alternative with Labour.
Spotted 2 lowbrow football casuals in Perth city centre today scoping out suitable marching territory for their 1.30 demo against the new Mosque on Sunday 10th September. Looking forward to chants of "No Surrender, Fk Refugees and Fk the IRA.
What's the chances I could get a few 3-2 banners...
Really needing some advice from those in the know folks.
At lunchtime today we had an offer accepted on a house, really significant amount after ages saving.
Couple of hours ago, I took a family friend to see it in the car. She was instantly shocked at the house I bought. Immediately over the...
Does anybody believe anything that's reported by the Press these days?
All newspapers appear to have thrown away all ethics (if some ever had any the first place) in favour of, not just sensationalism, but blatant political propaganda.
While the internet can be just as bad, I think people are a...
I amlooking at our use of electronic devices and I have created a simple onequestion survey that I am hoping you can spare two minutes to share yourviews:
I'm currently going through withdrawals from codein. Cut a long story short I got addicted to firstly prescription pain killers and then the over the counter stuff. Ended up on 96 tablets a day. Have been on 60mg codein continuous tablets for the past 7 years unsuccessfully trying to come off them...
