She was sued by Jack Monroe and she lost. Monroe wins £24000, but Hopkins' also has to pay Montoe's legal costs.
I'm not sure which legal firm she used, but they're costing Hopkins £300k. On top of that there will be Hopkins' own legal fees.
I considered posting this in the good news stories...
One of the essential elements of a 1970s childhood!!
The man is an icon!
If ever a company set itself up to shoot itself in the foot until there was no foot left then Tesco is it. I was a Tesco shopper for years even after their bad PR over pricing. They then shut several stores that I used and also cancelled new stores planned at a few locations.
Today I learn that...

Should voting be compulsory? I personally think it should be but then again I regard myself as a socialist, the left being the side that would would gain from this. IMO it would provide more legitimacy and eradicate demographic deficit.
There has been "some loss of life" and dozens of people have been injured after a tram overturned in south London, police have said

The Queen's Hall, the best venue in Edinburgh, is about to be ruined by modernisation. Or, brought into the 21st century depending on your point of view. Alas, mine is the former.
Did anyone else watch this doc on channel 4? Feel it deserves a thread.
I thought it was brilliant, very well done, very thought provoking and quite moving and harrowing at times.
Not an easy subject to look at (fairly) dispassionately, thought Tom Holland did a great job.

Moors Murderer Ian Brady, who killed five children with Myra Hindley, has died aged 79.
Does anyone else suffer from this, and if so have you found a way to overcome it? I've always suffered in silence and didn't realise this was an actual condition. The sound of other people chewing food or biting nails is absolutely rage inducing for me to the point where I've left the dinner table...
Where does the threat come from?
If you answered Islamic extremists then you might be surprised by this article.
I remember you comparing your support for the SNP with your support for Hibs and drawing that general analogy.
I didn't agree at the time, and I still dont, and I'm not trying to make a point, but here's an article which you might find interesting.

Wondered what people's thoughts were on UKIP's idea to ban the full face veil worn by some Muslim women? I personally don't think it's the place of a Government to tell people what to wear...

I've noticed more and more people on Twitter, mainly Corbynistas and Momentum members it has to be said, arguing thst the polls are "fake news" or biased against Labour.
This is a very informative piece which busts those, and other, polling myths.
Sounds like a hefty cut. Anyone know how many folk actually work for these companies in total? I've known a fair few people down the years who work for Standard Life and it's a big Edinburgh employer.
Having read a few threads on these boards and having watched a fair bit of the French campaign, is it now the case that we vote to keep the party we don't like out of power? What I'm basically trying to say is has tactical voting overtaken the strong local candidate vote.
Politics seems to be more...

Would someone explain this issue for me, in as non-partisan terms as possible, please. That probably excludes Ronaldo 😁
