Notice that the Scots players who were left out of the (losing) British Lions team are filling their spare time by beating Australia!
Having a fag out my window facing to fife from craigentinny, could see a huge fire above trees looked like it was in fife was wondering if anyone knew anything/where it is?
How are council services being managed while this saga drags on? Has anyone actually noticed we don't have anyone administering the city??
Sometimes in life you just have to put your hands up and say you got it wrong.
I was vocally critical of Jeremy Corbyn, I genuinely believed in his shaky first few months he was going to lead Labour to a catastrophic defeat and return them to the wilderness of the Foot years. Even recently I...
This is interesting, it's true, and is a salient warning for all in the Holy Ground. :greengrin (Smiley added to clarify intent!)
Observer Editorial is brutal!
How did it come to this? How could a politician hailed for her courage and tactical acumen a year ago be spending this weekend holed up in Downing Street, friendless and widely ridiculed, a prisoner of her furious party and of events that have spun out of her...
10 days before the most important negotiations in my lifetime take place, and we don't have a government.
May will be lucky to survive until they start, and even if/when she cobbles together a deal with the DUP, there's almost certainly going to be another election this year, and who knows what...
I think the Labour Party should include a commitment to PR in their next manifesto.
As the chart below shows, if we we'd been electing on that basis on Thursday, Corbyn could well have been Prime Minister in a coalition today, assuming the Liberals had learned their lesson and didn't prop up the...
Fantastic concert at Murrayfield in front of several thousand fans.....just thought I'd pay special mention to his version of 500 miles by The Proclaimers that had the crowd jumping and worked into a frenzy!
As it says, what do you think will be the result on June 8?
Well, let's be having you!
Edit: Just to confirm, this is anonymised.
just wondering what is motivating people most, and if there's anyone on here who would rather not vote SNP but is holding their nose.
Showing the cut of their jibs
Is there an Edinburgh Council at the moment? Just realised that I don't recall if a ruling group was formed or not, but cannot imagine that all councilors who were elected claiming to have the city's best interests at heart have spent over a month failing to organise themselves?
The first major UK Church to do so. Good on them.
The first one takes place on ITV tonight with 2 of the key players noticeably absent.
I can see the logic in Theresa May staying away. The Tories are 2-0 up in injury time and can only throw it away so perhaps saying nothing is the best thing she can do especially considering she does seem ill...
Reports of another possible terrorist attack
Have you seen this?
I've not thought this through yet, but on the face of it, it seems like a good idea.
Reports of a major incident this evening following a concert by Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed there have been several fatalities.
No further news just now or any other official confirmation as to what's caused this but there are suggestions...
I just read the news and I think a little bit of me just passed away as well.
Despite Dianne Abbots excruciating interviews, and JCs unconvincing oratory, Labour seems to be campaigning quite strongly.
Although some of the early policy announcements were a bit gimmicky, the headliners should be popular with target voters and the attacks on May's tendency to hide from...
For the first time something like this has happened, I'm scared. Genuinely scared. I held the Mrs a little closer last night. What sort of world are we bringing our child into? I'm not even scared for me, but the wife and unborn child. She's the one that makes the trek into London every day. That...
Don't know if this is right forum to post this, but someone sent me a link to a Daily Motion video called "Jeremy Corbyn - what was done"
The premise is it's a video created in the future reflecting on what a great socialist Labour PM Jeremy Corbyn was....

Shocking to hear about that zookeeper who got mauled by a tiger but should the tiger had been there in the first place?
It might seem like they have an element of freedom but apparently a tigers territory can be anywhere up to 1500sq miles and they are under huge stress.
I'm no animal...
Been charged with breach of the peace according to the Sun -
I was considering trying to write a post on this but here's a handy video so I don't have to. :greengrin
Remember - vote till you boak!
She was sued by Jack Monroe and she lost. Monroe wins £24000, but Hopkins' also has to pay Montoe's legal costs.
I'm not sure which legal firm she used, but they're costing Hopkins £300k. On top of that there will be Hopkins' own legal fees.
I considered posting this in the good news stories...
One of the essential elements of a 1970s childhood!!
The man is an icon!
If ever a company set itself up to shoot itself in the foot until there was no foot left then Tesco is it. I was a Tesco shopper for years even after their bad PR over pricing. They then shut several stores that I used and also cancelled new stores planned at a few locations.
Today I learn that...
A break from the politics. Anyone watch the 1st episode of this? Thoughts?
I thought it was well done and a promising start, intrigued to see how it goes. The guy playing the defendant is excellent.
in amongst the horrific events in manchester, Roger Moore has passed away
my favourite james bond :(
Died suddenly aged 52. In the middle of a tour and about to perform in Detroit so it doesn't look like there were any pressing health issues.
Shame, as he had some voice and I used to like a bit of that music back in the day. That's no age.
Now I've got your attention
I have come across this interesting article that proposes a random selection of ordinary people becomes the parliament.
Imagine if we chose a bunch of randomly selected people, put them in parliament, and asked them to make the laws for the next couple of years....
Should voting be compulsory? I personally think it should be but then again I regard myself as a socialist, the left being the side that would would gain from this. IMO it would provide more legitimacy and eradicate demographic deficit.
There has been "some loss of life" and dozens of people have been injured after a tram overturned in south London, police have said
sky news reporting a possibility of 'several' fatalities, driver of the tram has now been arrested
