finally top up your glass with Brasilian distilled sugar cane - cachaça

mix together to dissolve the sugar.
pop in a straw and enjoy.

you can substitute cachaça with rum and it mix in with vodka for a caipiroska.

After Sunday, only Smeltic, Rangers (RIP), the tramps (1 more) and Aberdeen (2 more) will have been in more finals.

Of those teams, the first 3 are the only teams to have won more finals than they have lost.

Only the teams above, plus Queens Park, Kilmarnock, St. Mirren and Clyde (and Vale of Leven, if you still count them) have won it more than us. :agree:

A third win on Sunday :pray: would put us joint-6th on the winners list, with Kilmarnock, St. Mirren, Clyde and Vale of Leven. Behind the first 4 teams above, and Queens Park.

Outside the bigot brothers, we have lost more finals than anyone (10):grr:, next is Aberdeen with 8 then Dundee Utd with 7.

There are teams that have to go back further than 1902 for their last win - Dumbarton last won it in 1883, Queens Park in 1893. Although they’re both pretty unlikely to get another win.

Our 1902 victory was at Celtic Park, not Hampden (was supposed to be at Ibrox but was moved due to the first Ibrox disaster a week earlier in a Scotland-England game).

Highest winning margin in the final is 5 goals – Renton 6 Cambuslang 1 (1888), Rangers 5 St. Mirren 0 (1934) and, eh, the 1972 final……… :rolleyes:

For me, I dreaded last years final, to the point that i never got a ticket. Having watched us under perform all season long and being caught up in a relegation dog fight. I just never had a good feeling. Our team was full of non entities who clearly didnt know what it meant to play for their shirt.

This year, although we are playing against a bigger team who are odds on to win, I feel slightly more confident due to the team that Pat has built up over the past 12 months. We may not always get the results week in week out, but when we play well we always look good. We have a team of professionals who genuinely seem to want to play for Hibs. I still don't think we will do it, however this time a I believe we CAN do it, if we turn up on the day. Above all there is a flicker of "what if, just, what if?!" in my heart that wasn't there last season

We could go with Maybury - Hanlon - McGivern - Stevenson.

I'm not saying we should and don't think we will but it is an option.

Pros - McGivern is a capable player at both LB and CB, will be fitter than McPake and has more experience than Forster. Stevenson has never let us down at left back.

Cons - McGivern has not played there much this season and it is not something PF has trialled in recent games. Maybe I'm just getting wrapped up in the cup build up: watching videos on YouTube, watching the semi final again, watching the highlights of every other round. This quote really speaks to me when it comes to hibs and the Scottish cup.

I have always felt there are words in football that are overused and 'dream' is one of them e.g. Players get their 'dream' move to a team they have never heard of. When we talk about hibs winning the Scottish cup as a dream it is a pure desire to witness history, to witness a pinnacle of our history.

I was in a customers house in Rutherglen yesterday and he told me he is the secretary of a bowling club in Rutherglen. He told me Hibs fans behaviour last year before the final in his club was superb and Hibs fans will be made welcome again this year and any other year.
He also said other clubs in his area had nothing but praise for Hibs fans.

...If you happen to inadvertently make two or more different guesses, we'll take your first answer.
...Own goals of any sort - even for Hibs - do not count for the purposes of this competition. It is the first Hibs player to score for Hibs we're looking for. If Hibs' only goal is officially deemed to be an own goal, the prize will be held over.
...Guesses such as 45+2 or 94 or 123 won't count. 45 or 90 will include any time added on at the end of either half or 120 in extra time.
...Scorer and time will be taken from the official Hibs site.
...Should there be any doubt as to who scores, we will double check with the club.
...In the case of any duplicate correct guess being made, the winner will be the earliest correct/nearest guess posted.
...In the event of 2 guesses being the same amount of time either side of the actual figure, the lower time will win.
...Shoot-out penalties do not count. This competition closes at the full time whistle, whether that is after 90 minutes or 120 minutes.
...Our decision is final.

I've entered a competition to win hospitality tickets for the final. The picture with the most votes wins, so could do with your help.

We're hoping to win them for my folks, without whom we wouldn't be Hibees. Dad used to drive us the 200 miles from Campbeltown to Easter Road every second week, and Mum has had to put up with a household full of Hibs fans, so they're both well deserving!

The picture we've submitted is from an under 19 pre-season tour of the Highlands, which doubled as our summer holiday that year. 480 mile round trip to see us play the likes of Buckie, Keith and Nairn, great fun! You may recognise a young Kenny Miller, who we were keeping an eye out for as he shared a name with my older brother.

As ST holders for next season me and my brother are sorted for tickets and we were lucky enough to get ones for my folks in the public sale. However we'd love to send them to Hampden in style, and as a thank you to .netters if we win I'll put their two tickets up on here for whoever needs them.

Anyone got anything planned? I had a party last year (I know ) but with the champions league final being on and not a yam in sight it ended up being an alright night. This year there's no champions league final and most of my mates and family are celtic fans so I'll be ducked if I'm having a party. If we win I was thinking of going through to Leith but won't have much time to get there and back (especially if it goes to ET) because I'd need to go by train. Can't stay over because need to get back to Glasgow to get the kids to then get back to Edinburgh for the parade on Monday.

So does anyone fancy a pint in Glasgow city centre after the game to celebrate/commiserate. Could meet at one of the pubs near Queen street so that folk getting the train back to Edinburgh could join us as they wait for the queues for the train go down.

So to date I have seen us lose 4 scottish cup finals - Celtic as a wee boy (travelling through on the Hawkhill bus) to lose 6-1, losing to Rangers after a second replay (I was a student at university at the time and got done from Aberdeen to see us lose 3-2 in the last game, I do remember watching the first game at an Aberdeen University Halls of residence and being denied a certain penalty at 0-0 with ten minutes to go in the first game), losing to Celtic 3-0 under McLeish and then last seasons fiasco.

So our losses have been against teams that we might have been the underdogs to beat apart from the Jambos?

But if the gap is 40 years we should have got there more often? Hibs as a team with their support have underachieved?

So what does Sunday mean to me?

I know there are more important events in my life than the Hibees but I would want before I depart this earth see Hibs win the Scottish Cup.


Do I expect Hibs to win in Sunday? Probably not? But I want to see them compete and at least battle until they have given their all. With a bit of luck it could be our year.

And if we do lose I will stil be back next season with an expectation that Hibs well be stronger and much of our opposition weaker with the likelihood of success increased.

Thomson is another one who has expressed his desire to stay.

It's really nice to see the players, and key ones at that, obviously loving playing for the club. We saw how much it meant to Leigh, Claros and all the players at Tynie, infront of all of us going nuts. :greengrin

In recent seasons it has been evident that some players didn't seem to be giving it there all, or look like they were enjoying playing for us.

This desire to do well, along with young guys keen to impress, has been really refreshing of late. Credit must go to Fenlon imo. :agree:

Long may it continue and hopefully we can keep those who are due to be leaving.

Hopefully a win on Sunday helps towards this.
