I'm sure I wasn't alone in having a little sigh when I saw Whittaker starting ahead of 2 younger left backs. He's not the physical specimen he used to be, and I'm not a fan of him in wide areas as a result.

Well, what do I know. A great performance, physically brave and dominating, and decent with the ball too.

Keep that up and the extra year on his contract isn't such a folly after all.

Was annoyed he was starting as I think Mackie has been excellent for us, he was also really poor mid week.

Brilliant today however and showed real composure at times which was critical to winning the game.

Showed leadership, won the ball back high up the pitch and drove us forward.

We need to start winning against the better team in the league more often before we can say we have turned the corner.
New signings will be needed before that happens.

Agree with all that. And I also think Whittaker is more of a squad player than a regular starter but needs must and he played well. I also think Horgan looks a better player when he comes off the bench so I’d play a midfield diamond and two up top
