Just reading a twitter thread about the commemoration of Walter Tull by Rangers fans and noting that Hearts signed Leith born John Walker in 1898. I wonder who the first non-white player for Hibs would have been.

Anyone know?

I had a programme with him in it after he signed, he was Bermudan from memory and the caption was "brricky" due to the fact we had signed him in the grip of winter, can't say I remember playing in the first team though.

The same Ricky Hill that went on to star for Luton Town. Remember him well but never knew he signed for Hibs?

EDIT Just checked he was a trialist so he never actually did.

I don't know who would be the first coloured player to play for Hibs but Gil Heron was the first to play for Celtic. He was the father of musician Gil Scott Heron.

He was from Bermuda .
He worked in vehicle insurance claims .
I lived there for a few years in late 90s .
Didn’t want to talk about Hibs when I had to see him after I had my motorbike stolen .-;)
Was a very good cricketer too.

Sean Goater - Man City was probably Bermuda’s most successful player .

Think he was the first coloured player to play in Scotland, he was nicknamed the "black arrow" at the time by those who watched him, very fast and direct by all accounts.

As for his son, what a musician, one of the best gigs I've ever been too when he played the queens hall way back in the 90s!
