Will Hawrts have enough players to choose from? Will no doubt confuse our Gorgie friends that we're at home at "their" training centre!

What’s the rules regarding this? Presume the 35 non starters in their first team will be playing in this against our u20’s?

Fair play to Hibs for sticking by the development name but a bit worried that this could go the other way today.

hopefully I am wrong but this is their first teamers against our teenagers.

Think we are still treating it as a development team rather than a reserve team. Hearts have such a big first team squad now they will need to be giving senior players a run out. It will be interesting to see if this comes back to bite them in a couple of years in terms of younger players being developed.

Why have a reserve league cup/league if we don't play 1st team players in need of game time, surely a chance for a few fringe players to get some much needed minutes under their belts.

How low must your opinion of our development squad be that you are are fearful they might get pumped off a bunch of guys not good enough to play for Hearts.

What fringe players would you have played and which development players would you have dropped to accommodate them?

Happy we played the Dev team guys - better for them in the long run.

League and cup double last year was all very well, but will do them no end of good to play against first teamers.

Couldnt really give a shiny ***** what Hearts do in these matches, to be honest.

The strength and experience of the 2 teams has to be acknowledged and well done to a young Hibs team

Sadly the result will show a hearts win with little context

Are we better to continue developing youth players or to use the fixtures as reserves for rotating the 1st team squad?

I can only think of Agyepong and Hyndman that aren't on international duty or recovering from injury that didn't play today that may have benefited from a run-out.

Given how small the squad is and the number of injuries we are carrying I don't think we would risk anyone else from the first team outwith young guys like Allan and Murray in a reserve game.

Even guys like Bartley and Gray who are coming back from injury it could do more harm than good to play as opposed to using the time to rest and heal.

agreed...but tbh, they have signed so many players that it is just a sign of the depth of their squad just now - impressive - yet must be costing them a fortune...and will be hard to keep players happy as many won't be getting much game time.

Billy this young boy looked excellent yesterday and was not out of place against older more experienced physical players a star of the future
Think the coach cost us the match as he played Waugh well out of of position in midfield with 2 midfielders at central defence is was a no brainier
The boys did very well

What position Billy?

He started wide left, but wasn't really in the game, partly because Fraser Murray kept drifting into his space (although Murray played well in the first half.

Yeats looked better at 10 v 11 and 10 v 10 when he moved to left back. Some nice touches and good composure on the ball. Needs to develop physically but at 16 he has plenty time for that.

Damn. With a nickname like Scholesy I was expecting a ginger deep lying playmaker. A position we haven't brought any lasting talent through in since Thommo & Broony.
