Reading back on this, I never realised that Easter Road was one of the stadiums included in the bid, and if successful we'd build a ginormous three-tier East Stand and raise the capacity to 35,000!

That would have been some sight to see.

The top tier was to be temporary, shrinking down to look like the west (minus the boxes) after

Would they have filled in corners too? As if the capacity would’ve been 35000 the East Stamd would have been one of the biggest in Britain at about ~20000 if that was all that was built?

I recall it being two temporary corners each side of the east

Looking back it probably might have been for the best. Dundee and United sharing a 30K stadium? No chance.

Assume the possibilities of ever increasing Easter Road to that size are now gone with the new flats?

Possibly - although they managed to get another tier on the Ibrox main stand without increasing the actual footprint of the stand?

I wonder how much capacity filling in the corners would truly add? Is it about 1000 per corner at Ibrox when they filled those in?

I'm sure only 2 corners at ER can be filled in anyway due to the road layout around the stadium. FF to East and Dunbar End to West. The angled corners to both the FF and South are there so they fit in to the available area. It's most obvious at the back of the FF why building the stand straight on wouldn't have worked without a major alteration to the road.

Wait a minute. That article says we sing: hibee, hibernian fc, we hate jam tarts and we hate Dundee.

Has anyone ever sung that?

There was talk of bringing Tynecastle up to 17k.
