So do I.

Hope I’m wrong though

Wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls out at the last minute.

Well he's failed at that twice already...

Bookies have Kyrgios as strong favourite.

So he should be.

For Murray just being back out on the court again will be a victory in itself. Anything else will be a bonus for him at this stage in his recovery.

It will be good to have him back although I hope the media is realistic in their expectations ahead of Wimbledon.

Norrie was talking quite positively about Murray's hitting and his movement during their practice sets.

There is obviously a big difference between hitting with Norrie and being in a match with Kyrgios but at least there was some positivity.

I don't feel that Murray has rushed his recovery though so hopefully he gets through this test - win or lose - in good shape.

I suppose he has to come back some time and grass is his surface.
But I'm very protective of the guy.
As if he needs it!

Yep.. can't see anything but a Kyrgios win but Murray might at least get an idea of where he is, particularly in terms of fitness, and his chances of getting back proper this season.

Interesting to see how it goes. I think if he can compete and complete the match, he's probably in a relatively decent place.. even if that means a defeat.

Murray wins the first set 6-2 :greengrin . kyrgios is hitting 1st serves at 140mph and 2nd serves at 135mph

Kyrgios just comes across as a total bellend.

Yes but Murray seems to have a lot of time for him.

Tremendous talent when he is switched on. That just doesn't seem to be very often.

Murray loses in 3 sets.

Disappointing to lose from a set up but the main thing is that he appears to have come through the match unscathed.

Quite a long match too which will do him no harm at all.

Good though. Not sure if he has the temperament for the grand slams.

He'll come nowhere near to winning a major.

He's only 23. Has previously made the quarters of both the Australian and Wimbledon.

He may come somewhere near yet.

He'll need a major change in attitude if he's going to win a major.

He has a talent but I don't get the impression that he works anywhere near enough in training or in his preparation to allow him to compete at the very top of the game. He doesn't have the dedication that's required and he's pretty much admitted that in various interviews in the past.

He hasn't been past the 4th round at a major for over 3 years now. I've seen nothing to suggest that will be changing any time soon.

Agree with most of that. He still has time on his side though, if he 'gets his head right'. When the current dominating generation begin to fade from the game.. there will be top spot places up for grabs. Thiem and Zverev seem the two obvious contenders to me... Krygios' talent gives him a claim as well.

Andy should play Wimbledon, I reckon. Even if he loses to some qualifier from Uzbekistan at least he's shown he's up for it.
It's not good when top players pick and choose. It denigrates the tournament.

Murray wins on his hard court comeback in Washington against American Mckenzie MacDonald (what a name :greengrin) . He has Kyle Edmund next round . The real British number 1 should win if he's fit enough

Stayed up to watch it . Interesting game . What struck me was Murray looked rusty and wasnt hitting his shots as well as he used to but his desire to win is still strong and he fired himself up for the final set . Murray was punching **** out of his legs if he didnt make it to the ball and smashing his head when he missed a shot , Edmund just doesnt have that combative nature , he doesnt look bothered when he loses .

If I had the money I'd follow Andy to the ends of the earth.

Tennis tournaments tend to be in quite interesting places so it'd be great to do that.

Murray has announced that he'll be retiring this year, no mention of when though.

He'll always be one of the greatest sportsmen to come from these shores.

A shame that injuries have caught up with him, and a shame that he didn't win more Slams, but when you're up against 3 of the greatest players of all time in your sport, it's never going to be easy.

I wish him all the very best

It's the end of an era. There certainly isn't another Brit around to match Andy. Edmund is good but not top drawer material I reckon.
I am really going to miss him.

Have the second op and come back in 12-18 months.:agree::thumbsup::greengrin

What a return to the game, in the final of the doubles at Queen's.

You can't help but admire his attitude and will to win. He's a real inspiration.

Fingers crossed he can win tomorrow to top off his return and then go on to make a comeback in singles over the coming months.

Great to see Andy winning matches on the main tour. Got to the QF in Beijing before losing to an in form Thiem who's currently ranked #5. Today in Shanghai he beat the #56, Juan Ignacio Londero.

His movement and sharpness are coming back so if his body holds up he might be able to give it a good go next year.

Quite incredible. I've underestimated him (which nobody should ever do). I thought when he came back from his op to win the Queen's doubles title it would be a happy footnote in his career and I was wary of him attempting to make a singles comeback with a metal hip. Yet here he is, back winning tour titles. Magnificent.
