I honestly couldn't name another film that he's appeared in. Is he a one hit wonder?

Just been told he was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but I've never seen that one.

Just been told he was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but I've never seen that one.

He plays the villain in one of the best Columbo episodes ever.

Not just films, but the Dick Van Dyke show was massive in the 60s and 70s.

He turned down a lot of roles in films that he thought were too risqué or violent (eg. he was offered Gregory Peck's role in The Omen).

It certainly is however his sons police career is a sham, he gets all the credit but his dad does all the work!

DVD Show was required viewing in the sixties. Mary Tyler Moore was his co - star. It dwelt on the little challenges of domesticity but DVD himself was obviously quite a madcap. He read the eulogy at Stan Laurel's funeral.
