Saw this strange story in my local rag today. Pity they couldn't get Pat's name correct in the headline.

:confused:the name mistake was a bit annoying, but he was mentioned properly in the report at some stage. the really annoying part is the distress and angst caused to the auld lady. she wanted to pass the bottle on to her son/son in law at some stage and this ****bag took all that away from her . thankfully she did not have to face this barsteward, when he was in her hoose.

The paper even got John Blackleys photo in and called him Stanton!

"Miss Sweetland asked for Holden to be given another chance but Judge David Pugh said his 22 previous convictions for 40 offences counted against him"

Sounds like a right character

He should be made to pay back whatever the estimated cost to replace it is. Even if it's a fiver a week from his benefits.

All too often people are robbed of loads, perpetrators squirrel the proceeds somewhere and are not forced to compensate the victim. Especially when frauds for millions are concerned, and they get 3 or 4 years in jail. Pretty handsome salary and an occupational hazard which most are prepared to accept if they are willing to steal in the first place.

No thief should be better off once caught out and we should be able to take from their families etc if there is no proof they have legitimately acquired belongings/money etc

As you say, bit of a strange story, coupled with some weird btl comments in the linked article. I'm sure it would not make up for the lady's loss, but maybe a bottle of Green Label with a new signature by Pat and some of the remaining 2016 vintage team (SDG, SJM for starters) would help her get over the loss and give her something meaningful and unique back, as it reads as though her husband was a good Hibby? Could be a minor publicity initiative for the club in darkest Southend for the (retail) price of 12 overcooked lukewarm pies?

PS I'm happy to spend other peoples money on this worthwhile initiative. :greengrin
