View Full Version : Stubsters moves so far.

What are peoples views on the Stubsters first moves? (not his performance because it's too early for that)

In my opinion he appears to be making the best of the situation (meaning the constraints) he finds himself in. He appears to be a manager that will look toward and play youth. Which for me is the key to successful Scottish Football. An example of his youth minded approach is bringing in Doolan.

Nevertheless, could he be doing more? I'm not talking about individual signings I'm thinking more in terms of instigating new ideas, new methods at the club?

*Disclaimer. I was 100% not for Stubbs coming in, but as long as he doesn't take us down and builds on youth, I'm in.

Playing the youths is great but only if the youths are off a good quality.

Apart from one friendly game a couple of interviews, we don't really know what he's doing. It's probably a bit early for this thread is it not?

Agreed,
Considering he has been in post bout ten minutes and most of us sans imaginary friends in the Hibs background staff I reckon lets give him a bit more leeway for a while longer !?

And a bit early for a nickname that sounds like he is from test match special?

Been great so far. The boys really like him and the freshness of his training.

Does "Stubster" refer to Stubbs alone (ie the Stubster) or to the Stubbs/Dempster axis that we now have in place (a la Jedward)?

Either way, I've been quite impressed at what they've already shown.

Personally, I like his appointment but it's also tinged with a fair bit of 'we've been here before'. So many times in the past few years we've heard it all from various managers who have all failed so I just want the current management team to get on with delivering and not just talking.

I am certainly impressed with John Doolan, whit guy in their right mind would leave Wigan, who will be fighting promotion to the Premier, and come to Hibs for the same job.:agree:

No, it's Stubbs and Terry Butcher who's still (maybe) officially employed by the club. :agree:

I suspect this entire thread was devised because you want to get everybody referring to our manager as 'Stubster.'

In football and Hibs managers in particular, I thought the thing was simply to add a "Y" somewhere in the name or an "I" to create the same sound. Stubbsy, Terry, Paddy, Yogi, Johnny, Tony, Bobby and the list goes on. With Mixu as the clear animoly

Disagree.the big difference this time around is we also have Dempster and Craig. There are very positive vibes coming out of the club at the moment and that can only bode well for the future. That wind of change is really starting to blow.

The OP seems to have got his arguement the wrong way round, he has not made any signings yet but has implemented new philosophy. Training methods etc If the feedback from the players is correct and commanded a great deal of respect from doing that........

I hate to brag but I was first on the "The Stubbster" horse. It is the only right way to refer to him though.
