Hello

Any help appreciated on this. I currently pay Sky about £120 a month - I've negotiated to £90 a month if I renew contract.

The thing is I hate Sky and I am very selective about what I watch.

I'd like to have all the Sky Sports channels in HD, BT Sports in HD, Netflix and iPlayer. (plus fibre optic broadband, which I have already)

That's all I need.

Does anyone have a similar stripped down package with any provider such as BT or Virgin?

BT & Virgin don't seem to offer SS3 & SS4 - which could be a problem if Hibs are on Sky Sports 4 at some point.

I live in London so really like getting the chance to see Hibs on TV when I can.

Cheers for any advice

Virgin have Sky Sports 3 and 4, they just don't offer them in HD.

They only have Sky Sports 1 and 2 in HD.

For all your tv needs just google sky f5 boxes, ebay is your best bet. All the tv you want and more for roughly £100 a year.

And all in HD and 3D too.

Looks like Sky's aware of these boxes and are actively trying to do something about them.

Must be honest, I have never heard of them at all. How do they work?

I think they need to be connected to broadband and when you switch channel they "poll" a central server/box that has a live account (viewing card) in it to get the relevant decryption code.... Something like that.

I've always thought that with my luck if I bought something like this it would just happen to be the month that Sky/Virgin etc resolve the issue!

How did you manage that?

I've called up a few times trying to negotiate when i want to upgrade things but it never works and im swithering about upgrading to fibre broadband but it's an extra £15 a month and im already paying them £115 and cant justify the extra.

Im not in a virgin media enabled area either so i dont have that card to play.

These boxes are all over the place now, i went to see my kids in london the other week and all his friends have them.

Even the pubs and clubs have them here in blackpool, in fact its difficult to find one thats not got one. I even watched the Hibs v Aberdeen game last season the 0-0 borefest on one IN BENIDORM.

Sky have tried to stop this twice that i know of in the last couple of years, but it was back on within two days, and the HD and 3D channels in a week at most.

Technology eh, who'd have thought the hackers would win?
