Give yourself plenty of time to get to the stadium - remember it's a 7pm kick off!

I have no problem with this - hopefully Hibs fans behave as the media are looking for any flare / smoke bomb related stories right now as it's a hot topic.

Let's keep Hibs out the news for the wrong reasons and just support the team without incident and just win the game :agree:

Flares? Surely some mistake?

Everyone knows they will be in nylon shell suits or for the older Yam, brown cords and matching maroon cardigan

Are they only searching for flares or are smoke bombs banned as well?

Did they not say the same thing before the derby at tynecastle and then when we got to the ground they just searched every 5th person?

It doesnt seem feasible to search every person unless it is extremely organised.

If I see another fan in Scottish football say "ACAB HEAVY HANDS EMPTY STANDS FANS NOT CRIMINALS" I'll tear my hair out. Mostly because the people staying it are letting off smoke bombs knowing it's illegal. Yet the police are in the wrong? Give over they are only doing as they are told.

Until legal don't complain if you are in trouble because of them.

If someone sets of a SB/flare and gets lifted then they will have no arguement, however kettling a group of Celtic fans (and most recently Motherwell fans) and not letting them move, not letting dads collect their kids etc is a disgrace. Police waiting at Glasgow airport for a man to arrive home from holiday, have him flung to the floor infront of his kids for having sung a song at a match previously, arrested him to only have the case literally laughed out of court. I'm pretty sure that is more the reason for Heavy Hands Empty Stands etc.

"Anyone who is caught with a flare or firework can expect to be arrested, either at the time, or as a result of a post-match investigation. As well as receiving a criminal conviction, they may very well find themselves being banned from attending future matches throughout the country.”

Talk like that will only encourage people, the promise of a ban from watching that ***** sounds to good an offer to miss at the moment

Officers will be carrying out searches outside Easter Road stadium, and a specialist search dog, capable of detecting flares, will also be used

WARNING

Any poster suggesting flares and smoke bombs are the same thing is likely to be leapt upon by the pedantry brigade accusing you of being braindead because you don't know they're different things. And if that brigade doesn't get you the 'it improves the atmosphere brigade', surely will

Simple solution - anyone found with a smoke bomb, flare, hand grenade or similar should be thrown in a cell and the offending article then lit and flung in after them before the door is locked until Thursday morning. The individual involved will be able to appreciate the atmosphere in private.

If flairs are banned it would certainly end standing at the football.

On a different point, if we win this convincingly, we may all be "packing laminated wood".

Another simple solution - anyone found with a smoke bomb, flare, hand grenade or similar should be congratulated by the local constabulary/peers for bringing style, pinach and much improved visuals to the proceedings before setting off for all to enjoy. The individual and those around him will be able to appreciate the atmosphere together?

Just a thought.

If you break the law you can't complain. Setting off pyro has been done repeatedly at Celtic and Motherwell games. That's the way police have to deal with them now.

Was the song he sang illegal? And is knowingly banned?

Is there a link to this case? If the first the guy knew about his arrest was when he got off the plane and the police's opening gambit was to throw him to the floor then that is horrific.
Pictures of laughing court officials would be good too. :greengrin

You can make your own mind up, and you might think the page is bias, but the videos in this (http://ultras-celtic.com/blog/?paged=2) blog show over the top policing. Let them walk to the game and nothing happens, but bottle them up into a tight crowd and its inevitable there is going to be trouble.

And as BouncerRoss stated, there have been numerous cases of it being laughed out of court. The one I referred was actually over a banner having re-read. A banner with a few zombies on it, clearly just a wind up, was somehow deemed illegal by the police...and therefore laughed out of court.

People obviously reported what he done for him to be arrested, if it was about a banner then it might be like the cases of people saying stuff like they want to shoot someone on twitter and ending up arrested when it mwas tongue and cheek, or in the US a lad with autism got suspended from school for drawing a bomb.

My point being if you're arrested for a banner with zombies on it, the police are going mad. But smokebombs and stuff you can't complain and that is why we have this situation now.

On the face of it, yeah, but ... since Strathclyde Polis were renamed Police Scotland, we all seem to be at risk of living in a society where the police set their own agenda. Some of what worked in Edinburgh (but not in Glasgow) will no longer be tolerated here, it would seem.
