Been listening to some of this stuff on you tube and how I miss it. Some cracking songs and videos came out during that early 2000 period. Surely I'm not the only one. Post your fave

Some excellent songs on that one Callum. Mind you, you cannot beat a bit if NOFX and the likes.

Jimmy Eat World and the middle is up there as well.

Like my Punk (and Pop Punk) Green Day my Fav but have seen Alkaline trio twice, QMU in 2002 and I think the garage in 2008.

Big thing for the Wedding Present as well. Maybe not so Pop Punk tho

A huge staple of stuff I listened to and still do to be honest (though the newer stuff like All Time Low don't quite do it for me!).

Fenix TX - Threesome
The Used - Taste of Ink
Home Grown - Not Alone
The Starting Line - Best of Me
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Alkaline Trio - Time To Waste (or mostly anything pre-Damnesia)
Green Day - When I Come Around (or anything pre-21st Century Breakdown)
AFI - Girls Not Grey

Finch - Letters To You (technically post-hardcore but who cares!)

Some very good choices. Love Green Day but have went Main stream and tbh have out grown themselves (if you get what I mean... Sold their sole)

Their other interests

The Fox boro Hot tubs, Network and my other Fav Pinhead Gunpowder are just as good.

Pinhead have done outstanding song... acoustic Landlords is just brilliant

I don't necessarily mean overall but they had some good songs which contributed to the era.

I wasn't really into Something Corporate at the time but became a big Jack's Mannequin fan and went back to listen to some of SC and quite liked them.

Vans Warped Tour UK coming up soon at Alexandria Palace in London which I'll be going to :agree:

Still one of my favourite bands.

However, don't be tempted to go and see them if they come back to Edinburgh. They played the Citrus Club a couple of years ago and it was ****ing awful!

Some of the old bands still have what it takes (Skids, Buzzcocks, Alarm, Rezillos, even Angelic Upstarts are all still worth seeing) but some should just leave us with good memories rather than make fools of themselves!

First saw The Members in Tiffanys around 1979 - the Regular Music nights there were great!

Forgot all about millencolin, they were pretty decent back then too.
Also Dillinger Four who had a couple of excellent albums. They played at a place in Haddington about 10 years back, supported by the tone, where iirc you had to go outside if you wanted to have a beer. Always thought it was a a strange choice of venue for an American punk band.

The Pistols were a pop band, inspired by the greatest pop band of all, the Ramones. Lydon may not like the term pop star but he certainly understood the disposable nature of it all which is what defines the term 'pop.' If ever a band had top notch pop sensibilities it was the Sex Pistols. And I still love them for it and still want to force my creaking old bones to pogo when I listen to NMTB. I bought my first copy on the day of its original release and have since paid for another vinyl copy , a couple of cassette versions and 2 CDs. Great Pop music.

If you haven't heard it you should give the S.PUNK bootleg a listen. It's studio demos of most of NMTB but with Glen Matlock on bass rather Steve Jones doing it as he did on the official release. Sounds much slower but still really good.

NMTB, along with Ramones - Leave Home, slaughter & the dogs - do it dog style, Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for rotten vegetables & SLF - inflammable material, is something I never tire of listening to.

Some quality songs on that. I remember it was the original American Pie's and other American high school comedy type films that first got me interested in this kind of music. The first 3 on the CD in particular "Teenage Dirtbag, All the Small Things, In Too Deep" are old favourites.

He's always on eBay looking etc. I buy stuff from the states when limited addition are out usually from Banquet Records.

I would say in excess of £100,000 worth of records.

It certainly is excellent. It does highlight just how good a musician Jones is though and already was at that point.
The first Clash album still does it for me. Has to be the original UK version because for me Janie Jones is one of the all time great album openers. And some of the critics may have sniffed at the time but the Damned's debut is a belter as well. Away to dig out some of the best to listen to on my drive down to the game. Have to throw some Buzzcocks in to the mix though. :greengrin
