east of scotland: The East of Scotland League fixture card was ruined by the weather, with only two matches surviving, although they were both important games affecting possible promotion from the Central Taxis First Division. Coldstream extended their lead at the top of the First Division to eight points with a convincing 6-1 victory against second-placed Gala Fairydean on the all-weather surface at Netherdale. Hawick Royal Albert caused an upset when they travelled to play third-placed Eyemouth United and beat the Fishermen 3-2 after trailing with less than five minutes left.
