You don't have to.

In the first one an eastern European gang steal his daughter. In the second one they go after him. There is references to the first one though.

I'd say the first in better than the second.

Seen the second yesterday as part of a three movie marathon.

I thought it was absolutely awful TBH and completely betrayed the original.

Formulaic, predictable, cliched and just downright boring at times.
