"Persevere"..No fans have waited longer !!

The shipyards quiet now,no more welders sparks,
where are the butcher and the grocer shops?
in their place,"We buy Gold" and Loan Sharks,
the whisky bonds now dry,more drunk inside than ever sold,
we miss the hustle and bustle of the "Old Kirkgate"
how could they let that die? i say that while i sigh,
but through all this our proud Port lives on,it will NEVER die,
cometh that day in May,us Leithers will raise our voices,
and EVERYONE will shall hear,"Sunshine on Leith" as it's never been sung before,
Queen Victorias' statue,the only thing still here since that day in 1902,
i'm sure she smiled as the Cup passed bye,was that a tear in her eye?
so lift a glass or maybe two and toast Leiths' proud sons,
that DAY grows near after 110 years when we lived up to our motto,
"PERSEVERE" NO FANS HAVE WAITED LONGER !!!
