anyone know where i could buy an old cask? the ones that are found in pubs.

im looking to get one for the garden for my converted shed/bar/escape hut. :thumbsup:

Ironically, Kentucky distillery's buy their barrels from Scotland. I would try phoning Scottish distillerys first.

The Glenkinchie (I think) distillary is out by Tranent. Diaego have it. Try them.

If your going direct to a distillery the best bet would be Balvenie or Bruichladdich as they both have their own cooperages.

Whisky casks can be reused for about 60 years and aren't cheap so distilleries aren't keen to part with them if they still have economic viability. They pay a lot of money and take a lot of time choosing casks from bourbon and sherry producers.

Correct. I think that the law in Scotland is that they can be used 3? times and then have to be disposed of whereas in the US the laws are less stringent.
