Dylan famously adapted existing folk songs into his own versions. I'm becoming fascinated by the number with a Scottish root.

A couple here to set the ball rolling: "The Walls of Red Wing" is the "Road and Miles to Dundee", and "Pretty Peggy-O" is "The Lassie of Fyvie". Anybody able to add others? Much thanks.

Cheers for that - Hattie Carol was inspired by the Four Maries. interesting stuff!

Also, I didn't know that Joan Baez is half Scottish. Puts here alongside Johnny Cash, Elvis, Eddy Cochran, Woody Guthrie, Neil Young and Jack White in "How the Scots Invented Rock n Roll", as far as I'm concerned.

Now, is there any chance Lead Belly or Robert Johnson had a Scottish Granny?
