AFTER one of the most demoralising defeats of what has, so far, been a difficult first season back in the SPL, one consolation for Dunfermline is that they remain bottom of the table only on goal difference. As they look ahead to the second half of the campaign, even a modest improvement in form could be enough to lift them a couple of places to safety. The obvious question at the end of Saturday’s 4-0 defeat by Hearts, however, was where might such an improvement come from? Poor in defence and toothless in attack, Dunfermline looked short of confidence. Midfielder Martin Hardie admitted that after a promising start to the season, life had got harder
