Any suggestions? I'm feeling rather rough after the festivities. Anyone recommend the kind of comfort food that sorts you out?

Oh, and don't bother suggesting a ham shank.

Keep that for the cartoons thread.

A Tesco own brand tikka masala from the chill cabinet and a plain nan bread

Lorne Sausage Rolls with HP Sauce and Irn Bru (anywhere between 330ml and 2L depending on severity of hangover)

I assume you mean what would make you feel better rather than what would be best for you. Anything that involves chips, grilled (or fried) meat, and white, buttered bread would be my suggestion. Fruit and vegetables may help with guilt issues, but will be no use at all on the comfort food front.

The advice in the alcohol counselling service is to get some nourishing soup and toast down you. Plenty liquids like fresh orange juice and water too. Avoid paracetemol etc. They are useless.

Of course if you have the jitters you just have to ride it out for a couple of days or go to your GP for calming medication.

Is calming medication not known as hair of the dog!

A couple of bacon rolls do the job for me. Probably wash it down with an Orange Oasis if it's too much to face a fizzy Irn-Bru!

Eggy Bread with melted cheese on top and tomato ketchup

Stick a bit of chilli in the egg mix if you want an extra bit of kick.

Apparently, honey on toast is meant to be fantastic for a hangover.

a walk over to the shop to get a can of irn bru and a killie pie , crack-a-lackin  think the fresh air on the walk over helps as much as anything tbh!

im just home. Promise 2 pints of water will make sure you have a clear head in the morning. The sickness can be cured by pate on toast, tea, and texting a tidy bird.

You can only drink the two pints (or one pint for that matter) if you've not had too much to drink otherwise it comes right back up.

It sounds hideous, but a salty banana sandwich washed down with a load of irn bru always sorts me out.

Either that or a hair of the dog.

Salt and potassium, both depleted by drinking alcohol - you could be onto something there.

For your breakfast Bob, I'd suggest a roll in bed with a little honey would do the trick :greengrin

Glass of water to start
If held down follow this up with
Large bottle of irn bru
If held down follow this up with
Bacon roll and coffee (less milk is better) with a lot of sugar

May not be the healthy option but it will get rid of the hangover

Not so much a hangover cure but ever put grapes in the freezer and ate them frozen?

Spot on!
