I'm looking at taking my boyfriend down to London for a few days next May for his birthday (possibly to the champions league final) so I'm trying to see if it will be viable! I've been looking online at hotels however and some are quoting prices of over £300 for 3 nights in the centre of London which I just can't afford! Has anyone been to London and know of any cheap yet decent hotels in/near the centre?
Any help would be much appreciated

£100 per night is not bad for central London tbh, think you'll find it hard to get anything even half decent for much less than that.

I work there quite a bit and have stayed in a few of the Thistle hotels, quite a few to choose from in London but the ones at Barbican & Euston are cheapest.

Ahright okay, thanks for that! I guess I'm being a bit too optimistic at finding somewhere cheaper but still decent so £100 a night is probably fair.

Tophams Hotel, been a couple of times now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Totally re-furbished and amazing staff also walking distance to both train and tube stations. I managed to get it for £86 a night using a last minute type site but can't remember which one, a quick google should sort that. Hotel link (http://tophamshotel.com/)

There are plenty decent B&B's in Sussex Gardens, just off Edgeware Rd and within walking distance of Oxford St.

You can get Royal Hyde Park for around £75 per night.

There's a Travelodge in Covent Garden that you can sometimes get at a reasonable price on if you book far enough ahead. It's the usual Travelodge standard but is in a pretty decent location.

I was down in London in September on a budget and we stayed here http://umihotellondon.co.uk/ for 3 nights, its easy to get everywhere you want and the area is quite nice, near hyde park too.

Went in june too and stay at holiday inn camden lock which was nice but a bit more expensive!
