Big debate on SSN just now about Marlon King and if/when he gets released should he be able to sign for another club and so on. Hodgson has said he would never sign him in a million years, even if he was one of the best in the league, other people are saying, he has served his time which is a good enough punishment and therefor he should be able to sign for another team.

Now the question goes out to us Hibbys. Would you take Marlon King if when he gets released. I know its hardly unlikely that it would happen but would you?. Me personally would take him in a minute, as he would be a great signing for us.

Let the debate begin.

Why  pretty poor goal scoring record in the premiership imo

Nevermind the fact that he is a criminal with multiple convictions and total dickhead - no thanks

Our young lads are behaving themselves rather well at the moment.

Don't need this radge to stir things up.

He's nothing but trouble IMO.

A player that thinks he's above it.

Interesting post but i think he will be signed up by a championship club after his time is served. People always talk about it now but in a year or two, clubs will be looking for a good striker and will take the risk either way. In answer to your question i would not be interested in signing him for hibs tho. Not the type of publicity i would ever want to be connected with.

If a player committed fraud or something like that I would take them after their punishment.

Violent and endangering crimes demonstrate that he person in question is an idiot so I would steer clear.

None of our strikers could cut in the premiership imo. Dont get me wrong I think Zemmama, Stokes, Deek and Benji are good players and I love having them at Hibs, but could they cut it in the EPL. I doubt it very much.

No it wasn't, but it was one of the reasons you mentioned in your defence against the transfer if it was ever to happen.

I think he should be allowed to sign for someone when he gets out but that's not to say that I would recommend signing him.

You were the one who mentioned our current players, I didn't compare Marlon King to anyone just that he has a pretty poor scoring record in the top league.

You might be right and our boys wouldn't cut in in the premiership but personally I would not swap him for Deeks, Stokes, Zouma or Benji in a month of Sundays.

Convicted of sexual assault. Covicted of violence against women...and not for the first time?

He's on the sex-offenders register. If he signed for us and I was the chairman of say Dundee United, I would refuse him entry into the ground...and I would be within my rights.

I would take Lee Hughes over this guy any day of the week. There's a diference and it's all to do with intention.

You said he is not cutting it in the EPL, which suggested you thought he could not cut in the SPL. So I brought our players into it, suggesting the opposite. Anyway I obviously misread your comment, no harsh feelings lol. I still think he would be a good SPL player though :agree:.

he will continue playing football when he gets out, probably be a bit of a scramble by teams to get him signed up also.
i think the boy hughes (maybe lee, not sure) did a stretch and came out to a few offers, ended up dropping down a league or 2 but the offers were there to stay in the top level iirc, it was his choice to drop down a league.

That's not what I meant, he probably could score a barrowload in the SPL but we thought Clayton would as well given his lower division record in England so maybe not. King did have a good record with Gillingham and Watford.

So his criminal past & present doesn't bother you then, since that is the real topic under debate by Hodgson, Wenger, etc?

It was out of respect for the families he had ripped apart after his crime. He knew he could never take these offers up simply because of the closeness of the clubs involved to the incident geographically.

I can't ever imagine Marlon King thinking any thoughts like that.

Such thoughts are probably "out of his league".

Very good question.

For me the main thing with any sort of (ex)criminal is whether they're reformed or not - by rights if someone does their time for their crime they should be entitled to a clean slate - of course some will at least try to take the chance to move on and some will just remain ****bags

Without knowing the details, King has a pile of convictions behind him and still manages to disgrace himself even more by assaulting a woman who's only sin was having the good sense to tell him to GTF - for me this guy sounds like a terminal ******** - only place I'd like to see him is minding the door in some casino in Perth after Morrais has had a bad night on the roulette.

He's never even been very good in the Premiership. It's not as if we're being offered Mutu or anything.

So he's pretty gash and a violent sex pest with a rank rotten attitude, and not just on that one occassion.

I'd amost sooner see a dream team of Josef Fritzl, Graham Rix and Myra Hindley in the dugout, with Neil Lennon and Jimmy Calderwood in the board room!!

Superb Mike :top marks

On the Marlon King episode. Their's only one team in Edinburgh who sign up sex offenders and it's not us.

I've received the following text message:-

"Marlon King was given a choice by a judge - 18 months in jail or go on loan to Hearts. The big Wigan hitman couldn't face 18 months living in amongst the lowlife dregs of society and is now happily on his way to prison to serve his time"

No thanks - might fit in better at Hunbox or maybe the PBS on the basis that he will cost nowt, but for me the reality is that hes only been properly exposed now because the law was slow in catching up with him as was the press, unusually. If you or I had 14 previous and appeared to be the sort of hero who hits women I think its fair to say we wouldn,t easily get a job after we had done our time and we would have got a much harder punishment much earlier on.

If I were the CPS I would be launching a case for an increase in the sentence at the same time as his appeal.

As is often the case it looks like it will be left to the public to ram home what we actually think of this type of guy as soon as he gets back on a pitch, if it ever happens.

His agent is a tool as well.

He should have the chance as Wenger says to redeem himself, after his spell in prison.

Despite the fact that Steven Fletcher appears to be holding his own right now and IMHO (and likely that of others) isn't any better than any of those 4. As for Marlon King. If a club wants to take a chance on him that's up to them. They know they're taking a gamble.

Guy seems to be a Billy Big Baws from what Ive read in the papers and on here , as PC says if your club wants to employ him thats fine ,not exactly a roll model tho
