We should count our blessings!
Hibs not in Dundee's situation for the moment while Edge fails to make it for Sunday....

THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL WORLD THIS WEEK has been on the announcement that Dundee Football Club managed of course by a former gaffer of ours, Jim Duffy, have gone into administration.  They are the second club after Motherwell to have to make this announcement and more importantly and tragically cut jobs.  And as has been said if the rumours are true then more clubs are to follow.  This really makes me as a Hibee count my blessings a little bit.  We are not at that stage.  Maybe we should add a yet onto that and maybe not.  But we are not at that stage at the exact moment and time and I am grateful for that.

I heard about the news at Tynecastle on Sunday past.  Dundee would officially be in administration as of the next day.  To be honest it didn’t register at first.  I was more interested in Hibs getting something from the game at Tynecastle.  It was only when I picked up a newspaper on Monday and saw it in the news that it sunk in.  Now it was Motherwell and Dundee.  Jobs would have to be cut, not just playing staff but the backroom staff too.  It doesn’t really bear thinking about for any football fan.  I don’t know how I would feel in that situation, if that were Hibs and not Dundee.  Hopefully I’ll never have to find out.

Roland Edge has lost fitness battle to face Rangers (sns)

Football is a cruel sport, not just on the field but off it too.  It’s an expensive game for both fans and clubs on very different scales.  We have ticket prices to pay, clubs have wages to pay.  Some might say that it is the players that are ruining football.  They do have a point.  I know players have to earn a living the same as everyone else but they in turn can be ruining their employers.  I am in no way having a dig at players when I say this there are of course many other reasons why clubs are in financial trouble, too many to mention in fact.

The SUABC campaign launched by Hibs recently is trying to help keep Hibs away from the same fate as Dundee and Motherwell.  Getting lapsed Hibees including myself back to Easter Road is not going to be easy but the team of campaigners will give it their best shot.  We as Hibees have to SUABC at games.  Bobby Williamson has urged fans over the past few days to waylay the television and get down to Easter Road and make some noise! I mean we could do without Sandy and Rob’s dulcet tones for once couldn’t we?

My heart goes out to the people who have lost their jobs at Dundee.  That is not a pleasant thing to happen at the best of times but in such a way could possibly be seen as worse.  Hopefully things will turn out right for the players and other staff who are now searching for new employment.  I urge all Hibees to count their blessings too after all we aren’t like that are we?.

At Easter Road it's bad news on the injury front ahead of Sunday's visit of Rangers.  With Stephen Glass already ruled out of the match with knee ligament damage sustained on Monday night, Hibs boss Bobby Williamson has been dealt a further blow with the news that Roland Edge will not be fit in time for the second televised clash inside a week. ''Roland won't be available, he's not fit enough" was all that Williamson needed to say regarding Edge.  Meanwhile the results of Glass' scan from earlier in the week have still not arrived at Easter Road.  Williamson added: ''We don't have the results of the scan yet so we're no clearer on how long Stephen will be out.''  Hibs.net will carry a full preview of Sunday's match tomorrow and Sunday with the thoughts of Bobby Williamson and a member of the current first team squad.

The official website finishes its coverage of last week's RadioHibs.net interview with Bobby Williamson today with his thoughts on players who try to con referees by faking injury being the main topic of conversation.  To hear the full interview in audio, tune in to one of the repeats being broadcast at different times during the week by following the above link.  To find out when this will be broadcast, follow the link above and click on 'Broadcast Schedule'.
