Janos set for German move?
Hungarian International set to leave while two young Hibbies
prepare for a very different couple of daysWITH ANOTHER
DISAPPOINTING SEASON OVER FOR EVERYONE connected to Hibs, you could
understand if any of the players wanted nothing to do with the game for
the next month or so in an effort to put the last nine months firmly out
of their mind. One player who won't have that opportunity quite
yet though is current Easter Road skipper Ian Murray who has been
drafted in to Berti Vogt's Scotland squad to take on New Zealand tonight
at Tynecastle. Murray, who looks set to take a seat on the bench
alongside former Hibs loan star Gary Caldwell, has been drafted in to
provide some additional cover following injuries and knocks so some
players at the weekend.
Meanwhile, one full
international looks set to switch clubs in the next few days.
Janos Matyús has this morning been linked with a move to German side FC
Cologne. The Hungarian International arrived in August last year
on a one year deal just in time to beat the transfer window closing and
was starting to win round sections of the Hibs support before picking up
an Achilles injury. Although he has come back to form over the
last few weeks and looked impressive in doing so, it was thought that he
would have problems in obtaining a new work permit although the German
side appear to have some confidence in being able to resolve any issues
that may arise here. Although Matyus hasn't played for Hungary in
any of their recent games, the 34 times capped defender had hoped to
stay in Edinburgh with an appeal being made to the relevant authorities
with regards to his current working situation.

One player hoping that he can change manager Bobby
Williamson's mind is the also recently released Darren Thomson.
Thomson has impressed in recent matches with the news that he could
earn a reprieve depending on his performances in those games and the
training leading up to them. It is believed that the young
defender/midfielder will find out in the next day or so whether he has a
future at Easter Road or whether he will be forced to find a new home to
ply his trade from the end of the summer break onwards.
Away from Easter Road, First Division champions are set
to have their case for promotion discussed in the Scottish Parliament.
Falkirk West MSP Dennis Canavan called the decision of seven of the SPL
clubs to reject Falkirk's bid a 'travesty of justice' and has accused
the league of operating a 'closed cartel' and has tabled a series of
Parliamentary questions regarding the public funding of SPL clubs.
Meanwhile Falkirk Chairman Campbell Christie has said that the club's
lawyers are re-looking at the terms of the deal which would have seen
them share the Excelsior stadium next season after the details were
thrown into doubt last Friday by those rejecting their case. An
appeal to the SFA or the courts has not yet been ruled out, signalling
what could be a long, drawn out battle for fairness in Scottish
football.
