After the euphoria of his appointment, today Franck Sauzee gets down to the serious business. The Hibs Board have done their bit, now it is for the Hibs fans to do theirs and show the patience required in allowing the new 'Father' of the Hibs family to settle into his role....

Sauzee's Army ready to march!
We are family, Sauzee and the Hibees stand or fall as one - STUART CROWTHER

THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA ARRIVED when the sunshine shone over Leith yesterday morning, and Franck Sauzee became the first Frenchman to manage a Scottish Football club.  In a long and distinguished history, never before have the Hibernian family been more united, brought together by a common cause at the end of an incredible week for the Hibees.

Hibs.net have been there for every twist and turn, and the feelings being expressed here by over 10,000 visitors to the true No.1 Hibernian on-line magazine were noted by a Board who have in recent years worked miracles to deliver a product the fans could enjoy.  Alex McLeish was the man who turned things around for Hibs and paved the way for an understanding between fans and boardroom; but the legacy of Alex McLeish that matters most to Hibernian today is that of Franck Sauzee.

Many a new manager has 'said the right things' on the day of his appointment; equally many a new player has proclaimed 'xxxx club is the club I've always wanted to play for', and of course fans living more in hope than reality have always accepted these words as true. Never before however has a football club been faced with the absolute certainty that when the new man speaks, he is speaking the truth and straight from the heart.  It was in the admission that he may turn out to be the worse manager in the history of Scottish football that had even the most hardened hacks sitting up and actually listening for a change!  Sauzee means to do everything in his power to take Hibernian on to greater heights, but he also means to ensure that he does no harm to the club he loves.  In the unlikely event that he turns out to be a terrible manager, Franck has said, then he will be the first to ask the Chairman to find someone else.  Why?  Simple really, Franck Sauzee is not thinking of personal glory, because like every Hibernian fan, Franck Sauzee has only the good of the club in mind and nothing else.

There is a danger of overkill of course, expectation of the Hibernian support, many will say, is far too high, and that will place a weight on the shoulders that would perhaps even make 'Le God' buckle under the strain.  Yes, that is a possibility, but much as Hibernian fans have in recent times accepted higher than average prices at the Easter Road gates, they are prepared to accept that there will be bad times as well as good on the road ahead.  For fans of other clubs who cannot understand this, I have to tell you that sorry, you never will.  You have to be a Hibs fan, a member of the Hibernian family, to understand what is occurring down Easter Road these days.  Cynics will say it's all hogwash - of course they will - but Hibs fans will care little for that, a revolution has started at Hibernian, a new way of running a football club.  If it all ends in tears, then it will be tears shared by every Hibee glad at least to have dared do something different.

"In life there are times when you have to take complete responsibility and have enough self-respect to prove you are a man.  This is one of them."  You just can't buy words like that can you?  Franck Sauzee may only have learned to speak English 3 years ago, but his grasp of the language is now as legendary as his ability with a dead-ball!  As for those who will doubt, Franck said: "I know even some of the players will have doubts about what I can do as a manager.  Those doubts will not go away within two or three days.  They will stay until I prove myself in the difficult times and in the good time, but I promise you this - I will do this honestly and with all my heart."  The Hibernian clan will gather at East End Park today, a ground where Hibs have not actually won a league match for almost 10 years, and they will roar louder than ever before.  That will be enjoyed by Franck Sauzee, but it will merely confirm to him what he already knows - wherever the Hibernian support gather is his home, not matter what happens in the future.

Hibs.net reached new heights in terms of circulation this week.  Many Hibs sites have come and gone on the internet, some making grandiose claims to be the 'No.1 Hibs web site'.  The audited figures prove however that there is only one that leads the way, as on Tuesday Hibs.net reached 10,000 readers recording an incredible 215,000 page hits - the highest single-day ever recorded by any single site on the Rivals network.  It did not stop there either, as the site consistently recorded in excess of 100,000 hits a day throughout the dramatic week, during which Hibs.net brought the news first and in detail to the Hibernian support world-wide, leaving the mainstream media in our slipstream.  There is only one No.1 site for Hibs fans!
