"Done deal" sees Ecuador
striker join Ulises - STUART CROWTHER
WHILE
REPORTS THIS MORNING revealed exclusively on Hibs.net that
Ecuador striker Eduardo Hurtado could be Alex McLeish's next signing are
neither being confirmed nor denied by the club today, it is now understood
that the 31-year-old could be on his way to Edinburgh as early as this
weekend to complete a deal.
We understand that
application for a work-permit for the Ecuador international has already
been made, with the Ecuador international expected to arrive in the
Capital and finalise a deal that has been ongoing for some weeks.
Hurtado has fallen out of favour in the international stage in recent
months, having taken part only in the early World Cup qualifying ties of a
campaign that led to Ecuador qualifying for the finals for the first
time. However Hurtado is a veteran of many international campaigns,
as well as a prolific goal-scorer at club level. The striker, who
may well celebrate his 32nd birthday in Edinburgh at the weekend, is no
stranger to success, scoring twice for Deportivo Quito in 1998 to clinch
the Championship for that club.

Eduardo Hurtado - signing imminent?
Hurtado, nicknamed
"The Tank" in his native Ecuador, also had a spell in the Untied
States with Los Angeles Galaxy, scoring 21 times for that club. More
recently he joined Liga Univeritario de Quito in May 1990 before joining
his current club, Argentinian division one side Argentinos Juniors.
Hurtado is understood to have interested a number of clubs in England as
well as Hibernian, but the 'De La Cruz' factor seems to have swung things
in favour of the Easter Road club.
