HIBERNIAN LOOK TO BE ending a love-affair with Trinidad and Tobago that started when Russell Latapy arrived a the club, peaked with a mid-season tour of the Caribbean and fell to an all-time low with the departure of Latapy before the Scottish Cup Final last season.

Lyndon Andrews, dropped from a recent T&T international, has found himself out in the cold at Easter Road this season and now Hibs boss Alex McLeish is making it clear that the player is unlikely to figure in his first-team squad.  Andrews, in the final year of a two-year deal, has shown only fleeting promise in his rare first team appearances, notably against Hearts last October when Hibs ran out 6-2 winners.  McLeish said: "Lyndon is not playing and it may well be time for him to look at his options," - a clear and early indication from the Hibs boss that Andrews will not be offered a new contract.

Lyndon Andrews - departure imminent? (sns)

There was good news yesterday for midfielder Frederic Arpinon, who came through a closed-door match against Clydebank without further problems to the injury that has forced the Frenchman to miss the start of the season.  Arpinon is unlikely to feature against Motherwell on Saturday, but may yet find a place in the squad for the UEFA Cup tie in Athens a week on Thursday.  Hibs international U-21 pair, Ian Murray and Tom McManus, both featured once again last night in Belgium, where the young Scots held the group winners to a 0-0 draw.  It could have been a victory for the Scots, had McManus managed to keep the chance of the game on target in the first half, a Kenny Miller cut-back setting up a chance for the Hibs youngster who unfortunately blasted the ball over the bar from 8 yards.

Hibs.net meanwhile continues to gear up for Athens.  Pat Stanton will be in Athens along with the regular Editorial team reporting back with pictures on Hibs first visit into Europe for nine years.  From the moment the official travel Jumbo Jet leaves the tarmac at Turnhouse a week today until the return on the Friday morning, we will be filing reports, pictures and interviews to the site - so if you are not one of the lucky ones making the trip to Greece, log on to the next best thing!

A new Hibs video has been released for sale this week - a must for all Hibees, in particular with one eye on Europe!  "Hibernian F.C. - European Nights" has been produced in association with Hibs.net and can be purchased on-line from today via www.hibsvideo.com.
