Out-Standing Name!
(Stuart Crowther)
HIBS FANS
ARE SPLIT on a suitable name for the new West Stand currently
under construction at Easter Road, according to a poll on Hibs.net
this week that has attracted a high turn-out but a split decision!
In the poll, fans
were given five of the more popular names suggested on the Hibs.net
message board in recent weeks. Of these, two emerged as
clear favourites, polling 40.9% of the 500 votes. The
'Sir Tom Farmer' stand attracted 23.3%, while the winner in
this poll at least was the 'Pat Stanton' stand, with 27.6% of
the vote reflecting the popularity of the Hibs legend and Hibs.net
columnist.
A significant vote
however also went to none of the choices on offer being acceptable
- 19.1% of those voting unhappy with the choices available,
while 12% wished to follow the route of naming the stand after
the founder of Hibernian, Canon Hannan. Trailing on 9.9%
was the 'Turnbull' stand, while 8.1% believed that simply calling
the latest building project at the club the 'West Stand' was
the way forward! Hibs.net will hold further polls with
alternative names between now and the end of the season.

Nigel Pierre
- Hibs will take another look
Hibs boss Alex
McLeish meanwhile will take another look at Trinidad and Tobago
striker Nigel Pierre before deciding if he will talk to the
player about a deal a the club. Pierre did well in Hibs
4-2 defeat in a closed-door match at Livingston yesterday, in
a game that saw Livi's Brian McPhee suffer a media ligament
injury that could well keep him out of the Scottish Cup semi-final
between the clubs next month. Jim Leishman commented after
the game: "We will have a clearer picture of the extent
of Brian's injury but it does look as if he is going to be missing
for some weeks."
Mark Dempsie could
be set for a recall to the side to face Dunfermline on Saturday,
having come through the game well, although Dirk Lehmann remains
on stand-by to step back into the Hibs central defence.
